Awkwafina
Awkwafina began as a American musician and rapper performing sly tunes that dealt with questions of race and sexual identity with a comedic twist. Prior to her move into Hollywood her career, she could make a few songs. Nora Lum was born to Chinese Korean immigrants living from Forest Hills Queens. Her first encounter with music was from the trumpet. Additionally, she was given the classical and jazz education later becoming a hip-hop teenager. While in college, she focused on her studies, and then studied women's studies and journalism. While she was for a brief amount of time, in Beijing, Mandarin language classes were also available. It wasn't until she began focusing on music until after she finished her studies. The year 2012 saw My Vag (as a retort to Mickey Avalon's My Dick) became an internet hit and was included on her debut album Yellow Ranger. On the album, there was other hits that went viral, including Queef (body-positive) and NYC Bitche$. The latter song was linked directly to another project, Awkwafina's NYC A travel guide that was released in the year 2015. A musician and author was in her portfolio, she decided to set her sights on acting in a third project. Aside from early TV shows such as Girl Code and Tawk, she's also appeared in movies including Neighbors2Storks and Bad Rap. In the year 2018, her breakout role was in Dude Ocean's 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. In June she released her first film In Fina We Trust.
