Lars MikkelsenAt the age of 27, he was enrolled in the National Theatre School of Denmark at which point he was graduated in the year 1995. In addition to his role in the drama series released globally as The Killing, he subsequently appeared in two other critically acclaimed Danish drama series, Those Who Kill and Borgen III.He also played a prominent part in an episode of the BBC drama Sherlock as blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. In the American TV show House of Cards, he played the role of President Russia. He was awarded an International Emmy Award in 2018 for his part in the Danish television drama Herrens Veje, which was broadcast in the UK in 2019 under the name Ride Upon the Storm. Mikkelsen is proficient in English, Swedish and German. He also speaks multiple accents. He has claimed that he and his brother first started learning English through listening to Monty Python records and learning the comedy sketches
